My dad was diagnosised cancer 4 years ago. He is still under treatment as of today. I feel like getting medical exam pass is uncertain.

My father is finical capable to support his medical needs and he will be likely traveling to his home cointry for cancer treatment. Would that impact the medical exam result?

If he fails the medical exam, does that mean the whole application will be rejected? (ie, my mother)
Your father needs to pass the medical for mother to pass too. Him having the financial capability to pay for his medical costs is not relevant.

Hi
Just wondering my father don't have birth certificate. Should I attach 10th certificate with letter of explanation? Do we really need parents birth certificate for PGP application. Also he living with me in Canada what should I enter in travel history date which says from to. Does current month and year work or should I enter till date? Any suggestions?

I got the invite for PGP 2025 and wanted to know the procedure of sponsoring my parents and my grandparent (father's parent). I understand that primary applicant will be one of my parent or grandparent. However, can I include all 3 in the same application or I need to separate for all 3 or probably my mother and father in one and another for my grandparent. TIA

That's 2 separate applications. Your parents on one and your grandparent on another application.

Got my invite on July 30th here! We’ve started the application process; however, I’m a bit worried about the “resume” part of the application.

Long story short, my mom has been a freelancer and self-employed her whole life. She’s generated income by renting out our home, running a small convenience store from home, and doing various small side hustles. There aren’t any formal records of her work history. I’ve listed her work history since she was 20.

The problem is she doesn’t have any formal records, such as pay stubs, tax documents, or business registration since it was all informal. Has anyone submitted a PGP application with a similar background for their parent? Did IRCC ever ask you for proof of employment? How did you handle it?

Is there any substitute document to replace the marriage certificate for the sponsors as the document is lost and its almost impossible to get the c
I got the invitation This Morning for - Parents & Grandparents Program(PGP) 2025
Congrats, I got the invitation too. As I was looking at the forms, they require the marriage certificate of mine ( sponsor) and I think I lost it and do not even have a copy of it. I did provide it to IRCC when I first came to Canada but don't have it anymore. Getting a replacement from back home is quite challenging, as it requires both me and my spouse to be physically present there, which isn't feasible at the moment.
I would appreciate if anyone can suggest me here?

The resume for family sponsorship is very different from one for economic immigration streams. IRCC is not using the resume to evaluate the skills of the applicant, instead they are using it as part of the background check.

So just put down the actual work that she did. I haven't heard/read IRCC asking for paystub or proof of employment.

Hi 2025 PGP applicants! I went through the 2024 PGP process, and my parents received their PPR and Final Decision on the same day. See the timeline in my signature below!

Overall, the Processing Time from the day we applied was 1 year and 19 days.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask — I’m happy to share my experience and help however I can.

Hi, i have couple of questions

1. Parents marriage certificate - My parents dont have a one. We have got affidavit and additional supporting docs like passport and aadhar card. Does it suffice?

2. Birth certificate for sponsor - Myself being sponsor, i cant locate mine. Getting a one again seems taking time and not sure how it will go. Can we provide other supporting docs in place of BC?

Pls let me know if anyone had similar encounters and how you managed to proceed or your experience? what type of docs you provided and how you handled in the letter of explanation.

Thank you

Hi. There’s no other alternatives as good as original ones in both scenarios. BC and Marriage Certificates may take time but it guarantees acceptance.

Hi everyone,

I submitted my interest to sponsor my mother under the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program back in October 2020. My father passed away many years ago, so my application only includes my mother.

Despite multiple draws since 2020, I haven’t received an invitation to apply, and I’m starting to wonder if anyone in a similar situation (with only one parent listed) has been selected.

If you’ve applied with a single parent — or know someone who has — and received an invitation to apply, could you please share your experience? It would help me understand whether single-parent applications are being selected in the pool.

Thank you.
Hi.

I am in the same boat too. Simply write a letter of explanation for your situation and designate your surviving parent as a principal applicant along with uploading the death certificate of deceased parent. That should be sufficient for the officer to understand your situation well and process your mother’s application as a single-parent.

I Got invitation end of july 2025 for 2020 application is it ideal to use an immigration consultant service?
Honestly, the whole process of completing the online application is simple and straight forward. It took me a week to make sure all the documents are uploaded, forms are filled up correctly and there’s no pending document out of the given checklist. But if you still want to hire a lawyer to do same thing as you could it’s totally your own decision.
