There is a long list of people who have received FD but are waiting for P1 or COPR. Not sure how long this list is but it. could take up to many months.
Hi I received FD back in June (parents Inland) and no communication after that. If parents are outland when we receive next communication is there any option to request for ammendement/extension for entry date

I received the pre arrival letter on Aug. 14.2025
Still waiting. Would you share your time line?
Thank you.

We got :
Final decision - September 1, 2026:Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.
What will be the nest step, and when it will happen?

They will either get P1 or COPR if abroad. Still could take many months. Wait time will depend on the amount of applications who have also received FD and are waiting for landing. Also will depend on whether PR 2026 quota for PGP has already been met or it is reached before your parents get COPR/eCOPR.

No they can’t request extra time to land. If it is impossible for citizens to leave their home country before the expiration of their COPR you could request an extension right before the COPR expires. You would need to include proof that citizens have been prevented from leaving for the entire period before COPR expired.

Congratulations. This means that there is still PR quota for PGP for 2026 and that there isn’t much of a a backlog between final decision and COPR. The fact that it is early in the month also likely helped because IRCC also typically has a quota when it comes to how many PRs they grant per month per program to spread to quota throughout the year. Depending on their home country it may still take ~month to get their passport back. I would only suggest booking their ticket to Canada once they have received their stamped passport or if you do book a flight make sure it is refundable until they have received their stamped passport.
