Immigration Canada recently increased time for 2024 applicants to 4 years. I checked with my MP and they said you still have two more than enough time. So basically Immigration Canada is waiting for parents to die , so that there is less burned on Canada. I think for 2025 applicants it would go around 10 years.
Finally my parents got the passport request:
Timeline as follows
July 28, 2024 - Application submitted
January 2, 295 - AOR and Account linked to GC
January 2, 2025 - Request for additional documents
January 6, 2025 - Submitted additional documents
Feb 21, 2025- Request for police certificate and copy of passport
March 06, 2025- Submitted police certificate and copy of passport
June 20, 2025 - Request for fingerprint and photo (biometrics)
June 27, 2025 - Fingerprints (biometrics) sent
June 30, 2025 -request letter to pay 5 dollars missing in original payment
Nov 19, 2025 - pre arrival letter
December 17, 2025- Medical requested
January 2, 2026 - Medical passed
March 13, 2026- Passport request

We are planing to bring my mom here in April 2026 on her tourist visa to support our family as she's alone in india. Shall we call her in april or wait for passport request letter in india itself as it has be given to VFS location closest to city.. guess it takes 1-2-3 months
She can't wait that long in india as she already has a tourist visa..
Can she come here in April and can passport request and copr be handled in toronto itself.

For my mom's application submitted on July 2024, biometrics was completed on June 2025 and the medical was done on January 2026 and there was nothing after that.
Today, I see this on the portal
Final decision - March 24, 2026:Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.
Note: I don't remember what was displayed prior to this.
Am i anywhere close to getting the COPR?

You will get PPR soon. Can you share your timeline? What date July you applied? when did you get Pre Arrival Letter?
Thank you! I submitted my application on July 27th 2024, Medical Passed on Jan 8th 2026, Biometrics completed - June 20th 2025,
First Pre-arrival Letter - November 11th 2025 and I got a second Pre-arrival letter too but dont remember the exact date.
I am July 2024 applicant, done medical on December 19th, 2026, got phone call from CIC Officer last week followed by letter to fill the unemployment gap on the resume this week along with updated police report , hoping to get PPR by next month
He said me to provide the updated docs as soon as possible and he can forward it to next step
