Parents doest have Last names...Help

Hi All;

My Father/Mother do not have last names. Should i leave the "last name" column empty in BACKGROUND INFORMATION FORM. I hope thats not an issue?

leave it blank that field as I guess they will see as well on your passport or birth certificate that the last name is missing.

Write "N/A or not applicable" in the last name column and also write a letter explaining why they don't have last names.

Agree with Senorita.

I have checked with Canada Immigration on this issue. Write 'LNU' (Last Name Unknown) in the last name column and also write a letter explaining the same.

Can you ask them? It will be helpful to include a copy of their birth certificates to help explain it. If they are not in English or French, please follow the CEC guide for instructions about translation, etc.

This is not unusual.

With due respect to everyone. As an example, it is very common in South India to have only the First name and no surname recorded. Many of them who hail from South India do not carry their Last name as a part of their full name either in school records or official documents.

I am sure CIC will acknowledge this fact without insisting on a definite reason.

Agree with you.
Better to put it in writing that they don't have 'last name'. I don't think it needs to be substantiated with a definite reason.
