We’ve started inviting potential sponsors for the 2021 process
The steps to apply to sponsor your parents and grandparents are a bit different for the 2021 process. We’ve randomly selected and invited potential sponsors from the remaining pool of interest to sponsor forms submitted in 2020. We’re sending enough invitations to reach our goal of accepting 30,000 complete applications.

On September 23, 2021, we started inviting potential sponsors to apply. Invitations will be sent over the course of the next 2 weeks.

If you’re invited to apply, we must get your online application by the deadline shown on your invitation to apply letter.

If you lost or forgot your confirmation number
After we’ve sent all invitations to apply, check your invitation status through our online form. We’ll answer you within 10 business days.

If you’re not invited to apply
Parents and grandparents can visit for extended periods
If you’d like your parents and grandparents to come to Canada, they may be eligible to apply for a super visa which could let them stay in Canada for up to 2 years at a time.
