What are the reasons for rejection of sponsorship other than income?
You can’t sponsor your parents and grandparents if:
  • you’re less than 18 years old
  • you won’t live in Canada when you apply to sponsor your parents and grandparents and/or when your parents and grandparents become permanent residents
    • Your primary residential address must be in Canada when you submit your application and until we make a decision on your application.
  • you’re not a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
  • you’re a temporary resident, that is you’re visiting, studying or working in Canada on a visa or permit
  • your permanent residence application is still in process
    • You must have permanent resident status at the time you submit your sponsorship application.
  • your proof of income shows you don’t have enough money to support the persons you want to sponsor
You may not be eligible to sponsor your parents and grandparents if you:
  • are in jail, prison, or penitentiary
  • didn’t pay back:
    • an immigration loan
    • a performance bond
    • court-ordered family support payments such as alimony or child support Footnote*
  • didn’t give the financial support you agreed to when you signed a sponsorship agreement to sponsor someone else in the pastFootnote*
  • declared bankruptcy and are not discharged Footnote*
  • receive social assistance for a reason other than a disability
  • were convicted of a violent criminal offence, any offence against a relative or any sexual offence inside or outside Canada
  • can’t legally stay in Canada and must leave the country because you received a Removal Order
There may be other reasons that make you ineligible to sponsor your parents and grandparents. If we determine you’re not eligible to sponsor, we’ll tell you why.

Couple more I often see is people trying to sponsor (not co-signing, straight up sponsor) in-laws and PR's not residing in Canada.

Hello to all,
I am new in this forum and have a question which maybe answered before. but I would be very thankful if you answer me.
My parents application was received by S SCHITEBOER on May 31. I've used all forms which I had downloaded when I received the invitation (end of April). My question is that any form has been updated between April 26 and May 31?
If yes, it means that I didn't send the latest version so what should I do now?

Thanks
u are fine, forms were updated in june

Hi guys
Question about how organize documents before send, first invitation letter, second check list, then the forms, right?

Regardinf the forms with barcode? Should I put the barcode page first?
Thank you
both barcodes right after the checklist or in front of each correspondent form - people have sent it in using both these orders.
For what is worth, I put both barcodes right after the checklist.

i have submitted additional forms for my citizenship application and was advised they do not acknowledge receipt of it - and they really didn't.
i wouldn't expect it to be any different with the PGP program...

The order is correct. I put the barcode with each form always with the same order. If the barcode generated in page 7 I leave it in page 7.

the guide specifically asks u to put the barcodes first. i suppose it is open to interpretation if u put it on top of everything or on top of each form, which is why people are doing however they understand it.

Thanks, so most likely if one meet income requirements then should be ok, the above conditions are for very extreme cases like in jail or not living in Canada or leave Canada before parents got PR

pretty much, is my understanding.. i'd bet money not meeting LICO and miscalculating family size (which would lead to not meeting LICO) are the biggest reasons someone gets rejected for PGP

i'm sure someone will chime in soon enough if i missed anything :)

Thanks much. I will still put it with each form. as it seems to confusing to me. Bracode is belong to that form. and I always did that for all my other applications and wasn't any problem.

I keep it on top of the two forms. Back home I saw the VFS officer do it in that way.

Hi All,
If I'm adding extra form or extra sheet of word file because I don't have enough space on the forms. should I write by hand on top of the first form that "please continue to next attached page" or should I put a ticker on top?

Thanks much
