Tweeter team replied yes, but I am not sure how reliable is it, if your income is enough when you include your dad in 2016 and 2017, then you can do it and write an explanation, if your income is not enough, then I don't have idea.
if included my dad is not enough but the website does not mention do we have to count dead family members for period of 3 years

I really confused by this too, as in my case it is divorce and they are advising to include my ex spouse in 2016, as I was separated in 2016 and divorced from 2017. But try to refer to Guide that according to Guide there family size should be calculated based on current family size and there are only examples for increasing family size, and no any example for decreasing. For prior years the family size was calculated based on current family size, the guide was not changed, but it seems the interpretation was changed.

Hi,
I have a unique problem which I am trying my best to solve it but couldn’t yet. I need advice from all of you if you have any suggestion. I have submitted successfully interest to sponsor form but unfortunately not received email for invitation to apply though my reference number appears in successful list of invitations. I called agent yesterday, she confirmed that my reference number is in list. She sent me a link to web form to enquire and get the invitation letter but it takes 10 business days. I just met my Member Parliament, he too going to inquire on my behalf.
I tried twitter as well but no response.
My question is when they know that my reference number is in the list why they are not allowing to print it and send it with the application. Any suggestions

@YULIA-2016 I asked the same question to tweeter "I am just wondering should family size counted by years? and should the person deceased in 2018 included in 2016 and 2017 family size and not in 2018 family size? what about decreasing family size, there is no any example. Thank you!" and I got this reply "Hi. Please include the deceased family members in family size for any year that they were alive." It is strange for me too, but...

the letter is a requirement on the checklist, first item actually. there is a bar code on the letter that i assume is how they find ur spot in line and what not.

I'd wait for the 10 biz days and if u don't hear from them, print the IRCC rep's e-mail and screenshot of the confirmation u were invited and send it off with ur package. deadline in june 28 so, lots of time still.

Please help I am confusing.
My dad passed away in 2018, I am sponsoring my mom and her dependant. My son was born 2017 and I have common law living since 2015. My question do I have to count my dad (who passed away 2018) for the year of 2016?? I calculated my family size
2016 - 4 (me, cosigner, mom and her child)
2017 - 5 (me, cosigner, my son and her child)
2018 - 5 (me, cosigner, my son and her child)
i'd error on the side of caution and add ur dad to the count. do u have enough income to count him in or would that disqualify you?

If included him 2016 and 2017, it would not enough :(
damn...
well, at this point u can only roll the dice or not apply altogether. as my father used to say "u already have the no" so... send in the app without counting him in, enclose the death certificate and hope for the best.
dwelling on it wont help ur case anyway. i know some ppl on this thread will disagree but seeing that there is no concrete answer as to if he should be added or not, i'd give it a try.

good luck!

This year, according to the Guide, the "new" way of calculating family size is to based on the number of family member in each year, be it increase (newborn) or decrease (decease). If this rule is applied (we are not sure how strict it will be), then you are certainly not qualified.
Check the Guide again, and if you have sometime, call the IRCC directly and ask. If you can talk to them and get some short of answer to your question, please post back here so the people who are in your similar situation would know too

Hi All,
In IMM5669 Sponsorship for parents, in the Education table should we mention their high school (as secondary education) as well? or is university studies be enough?

Thank you

I don't assume that somebody can advise you at this point, but try, even if you call to IRCC you'll get opposite replies, one agent will say definitely include the other will say definitely exclude. My application was delivered when I realised this issue, as I was sure, if I am divorced from 2017, then I shouldn't include my ex in any year. But even if I knew all of this before, I would sent my application, by providing detailed explanation, as I am getting different replies from agent.

Yes most people benefit from the new way of counting family size because it often allows them to make less money for the first year or two but others will lose out by the new rules. It is the first year so nobody can guarantee.
