This is the situation. I filed to sponsor my parents and their depependents in 2009. My parents do have their previous expired passports but with no day and month of birth, only the year of birth that read about 1950. But when I filed I did include the day and month of birth they told me. I understand CIC will be requiring their birth certificate; so I asked them to go to the coucil where they were born and obtain one which they did. The problem is that my country is so corrupted that they don't want to accept to make them a new passport by including the day and month of birth as shown on the birth cert. except my parent pay huge amount of money because according to them they don't believe the council making them the birth cert have any record . And that if they don't pay that huge amount of money, they will just go ahead and make them the passports with no month and day of birth. So my question is. Should my parents just go ahead and accept the passport with only their year of birth, then make a court declaration of their ages and attached it to their passport? That is, will CIC accept a passport with no month and day of birth, but with a court declaration of their birth showing their day, month, and year of birth? Will that work?

If you are in Canada, you can always phone the 1-888 number to check if they accept or not. Since you have already filed your sponsorship application over 17 months, have you heard anything from CIC yet?
