Hey everyone,

I have just realized I did something really stupid and I don't know if my application will be ok.

Please don't give me grief as I am already kicking myself, hard.

I sent the outland application by courier on Monday. Still no delivery confirmation yet. The app's package has two envelopes in it to be able to fit everything and they were really wide so I couldn't close them. I left them both unsealed and put them in to the main envelope that I put the address on.

My major worry, which came to mind last night is that when they open it, if it's opened upside down or not held properly the papers might fall out, or in my mind, they will fall out. - so stupid of me.

Does anyone have any idea what the process is like when it is delivered? Does it go to a mailroom where it's opened and then sorted/separated to go to the proper department or people? Or does it get received then sit on a desk as is and only gets opened when the visa officer gets to it and starts to process it?

Many thanks in advanced!!

The applications are first opened in the mailroom because that's how they determine where they need to go. We know this because of the text message pilot they used to do where you could receive a text when they opened your app the day it was delivered in the mailroom. I am sure that dealing with hundreds of thousands of applications, the folks there know better than to open the applications upside down and let everything fall out. I highly doubt they just dump everything out willy nillly. Try not to worry. It will be fine! You are only at the beginning of this process and if you worry about stuff like this, you will guaranteed go crazy by the end. It will be OK. :)

And for the record... my application was literally just a loose stack of papers in the mailing envelope and everything was fine.

KBH, thank you.

I failed to mention that the envelopes insdie open from the side, along the length of it, rather than a typical one which would have its opening at the top. So if it gets held at the top as anyone would pulling it, things could fall out the side of it even though it's being held upright, being as heavy and thick as it is. - Am I still worrying too much?

I'm not saying they're idiots up there and will just be careless in how they handle the papers but, accidents can happen so that is what is making me lose my mind right now.

You really are worrying too much for nothing!!! How would someone predict on what exctly happens and how things are handled inside a governmnt office?? However thse people as of what i blve are professional in handling things!! Donot keep thinking about what would happen and how would it happen...this seems silly at the initial point to be honest...like the other person said u will go crazy for sure..! But sorry there wont be any answer which is damn sure here....we can just put some words of assurance and trust the people who are working for us!!

You're worrying way too much.

You have no control if someone opens up and stuff falls out, so don't waste time worrying about it.

Could it happen? Sure, it's possible. Is it likely to happen? Low chance. Is there anything you can do right now to change or mitigate the situation? Absolutely nothing. Put it out of your mind :)

you're worry is actually a blessing. the mailroom does not encourage any other envelopes/folders/plastic containers/binders/etc. to put your application in. what they recommend is only paper clips. you put your application inside the mailing envelop, close, and send. that's the ideal way to do it.

but obviously people regard their application package like gold and want to protect it as much as possible, put inside a folder, inside a brown envelope, inside a plastic envelope, inside a cardboard box, inside a shipping container. then when the mailing room opens it, they are like opening a gift inside a gift inside a gift. it pisses them off. lol. they will throw all those away anyway leaving just your papers and boarding passes and pictures.

again that kind of behavior is frowned upon. make it simple for them, easy to open, and very very accessible.

Hey Dolly143 - thank you and yes, you're right, I know I shouldn't worry. I was just trying to put my mind at ease *incase* anyone knows of how things work or happen at that stage like maybe know of someone who works there or have heard of the procees, yes I know I'm being outrageous and will try to stop!

Thank you for replying :)

kcward7 - You're so right, it's just that bit of a possibility that is freaking me out but yes, it's out of my hands and I will find out soon enough if it's all good. I just hate myself for not being more thorough and careful about it. Sigh.

Thanks for your response

Ok, well I guess I'm good in that sense, it's all just paperclips and two bulldog clips. I'm being such a worrier for no reason, which is the vibe I'm getting from everyone's replies. So that is reassuring. Thank you haXudon!
