Dear Friends
Is there any one on the forum who uses the option of goods to follow while landing at Canada. If yes, what is way you chooses to send your items to canada.
Also would any one on the forum would be kind enough to share necessary list of items and house holds items one should take while going to Canada. It is to mention that we are family of three. Husband, wife and kid of three years.
Thanks
1. Either the goods come through booked cargo, or you bring them on a later trip (within a year or so).
2. Things to bring: Bring your educational documents, your wife's educational docs, your child's immunization records, etc. Get everything translated into English and certified is it is in Urdu, as it costs a lot here to get them translated/certified. Convert your ID Cards, etc into English.
Some suggestions on what to bring:
Winter is very harsh in Canada, if you like and wear leather jackets, gloves etc, those are better to be brought from Pakistan, and bring ladies clothes from Pak for your wife, because there is very little variety here and its quite expensive. So bring enough to last 2-3 yrs until next time you travel to Pak for visits, etc. In summer you may need light jackets, such as raincoat, etc as it can get windy here. Umbrellas I have found to be useless as the wind is sometimes strong it breaks the umbrellas.
For kitchen utensils, most you can buy here, but if you can, bring a FLAT tawa (for making roti), and bring few pots of silver+steel(mix)as those are hard to get here and expensive. In the apartments, the stoves are electric.
Electricity here is 110V so most appliances from Pak won't work here unless they're auto, such as a laptop.
Fridge and Stove are included, even in non-furnished apartments in Canada.
If you have relatives/friends here make sure you try to network with them (without being a burden on them.)
Others feel free to add more if necessary
