The U.S. Department of State has launched a pilot program to speed up interview appointments for B1/B2 (tourist/business) visa applicants at select embassies and consulates in several countries, including Canada. The program runs through December 31, 2026.
How it works:
Applicants must first pay the regular $185 MRV fee and schedule a standard appointment. After that, they can pay an additional $750 to secure an interview within 10 business days, subject to availability. Payment must be completed within 10 minutes of selecting the slot, and once the expedited appointment is confirmed, it cannot be changed or rescheduled. The fee is non-refundable, even if the applicant misses the appointment or the visa is denied. Paying the fee does not guarantee visa approval — it only secures an earlier appointment.
