Finally, fairness and justice has been done!!! :D
I never have been more happy then today, when found out that these particular bureaucrats public servants finally got the same share of taxpayers money as other bureaucrats public servants in another office.
Today is the day when hundreds of thousands of people around the world and in Canada can celebrate too! That is their victory too! :D
Now they can join their families, start their education, get their jobs, grow their businesses, continue with their lives which have been put on hold, while justice and fairness was making its way. Hooray! ;D ;D ;D

It is sad to know though, that 9 out of 10 taxpayers still earn less money than their servants, but, guess what, they can get their share of fairness and justice too! They can apply for public service too!!! :D

No surprise here. We are entering October, fewere tourists are coming, the time for student visa is gone, so they have no cards left on their hands to bargain, and with CIC starting hiring new immigration workers, they have to end the strike to keep their jobs

26 September 2013 - Canada’s Foreign Service Officers Reach Tentative Agreement with Federal Government
The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers is pleased to announce that a tentative agreement has been reached with the Treasury Board of Canada to end our six-month labour dispute.

“PAFSO is satisfied with this deal,” said PAFSO President Tim Edwards.“This agreement was reached through compromises on both sides,” continued Edwards. “We salute the spirit of constructive engagement which our employer brought to our latest discussions. This deal is a victory for free and fair bargaining in the federal public service.”

With the signing of this tentative agreement PAFSO has ordered an immediate suspension of all strike measures and work to rule. The agreement requires ratification by the PAFSO membership and approval by the full Treasury Board. PAFSO’s Executive Committee and Treasury Board president Tony Clement have agreed to recommend acceptance of the offer.

“We are pleased that the Government has recognized the tremendous value and dedication which Foreign Service Officers provide to Canadians and their elected representatives,” said Edwards. “It has been a hard-fought battle and I would like to salute the unity, resolve, and stamina of our members in securing a fair and equitable deal. We’re excited to get back to doing the work we love, promoting and protecting Canada’s values and interests abroad.”

The 1,350 Foreign Service Officers have been without a contract since July 1, 2011 and in a legal strike position since April 2, 2013. This agreement concludes the longest federal public service strike since the introduction of collective bargaining in 1967.

So guys, When will they go back to work??
You bet. They have no excuse to not work this Monday. I wonder if we could be on such a strike in our offices n not work for months. How refreshing it would be! They should be more effective now ''ideally''.

After striking a deal to move to a higher wage scale and end a six-month rotating strike, Canada’s foreign service officers are now pledging to turn toward clearing a backlog of visa applications abroad created by the job action.
The public service strike has left a backlog of work. New permanent residency applications are taking 70 days to process, twice as long as when the strike began in April. Mr. Edwards suspects some students and visitors were put off by visa delays caused by the strike, and avoided Canada altogether. “There is a significant backlog to clear, and that will take months,” he said. “But our members will contribute heavily to that effort, and we’re looking forward to getting back to work.”

There were huge backlogs and long processing time even before this strike, why do you think something will be different after?

-Even before strike processing time for visitor visa in most of their VO was more than 1 month. World longest time.
-Even before strike they managed to create huge backlogs of few hundreds of thousands applications for PR, which they simply trashed out. After they took processing fees upfront and applicants were waiting in line for many years.
-Even before strike entire Canadian immigration program was halted for 1 year, because they could not do their work in time. Brilliant decision.

They are not interested in being effective and efficient. No pay increases will change their attitude towards their work.
If they underperform like this in private sector, they would be fired long time ago and more effective workers would be hired. And that would be fair.

These PAFSO guys are just a tiny group of self-serving bureaucrats. Nothing else.
They don't care of anything else except their fat paycheck. And they showed it explicitly when they took lives and future of many thousands of people as hostages and wild card in their "bargaining" game. Or better to call it blackmail? That what it was in my opinion.

Why do you think they will work their asses off to clear backlogs? Because they feel guilty that they did so much harm to innocent people? Because they want to make it up to them? Come on. Don't be so naive. They don't have any time limits when doing their work.
They got their pay increase. Now back to normal. From worse to bad. Till next strike.

100% true Brother. I'm mi3 applicant under sgvo. Observed from the beginning, nobody can predict how long it 'll take to complete the rest of mi-3. Each year they complete around 6 cases(total 28 ppl in this mi-3 thread). If the process runs in this way then it will take more than 3 years to compete all mi3 applications. This is the scenario. Really unfortunate.
