Hi everyone,

I applied in-land sponsorship in July, now my background check is in progress.

I have a study permit now, however, I would graduate in April and would need to start to work from May.

Can I apply a work permit online? if i have the PR application in progress?

Open work permits for spouses or common-law partners in Canada
If you’re applying under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in-Canada class, you may qualify for an open work permit while your application for permanent residence is being processed. You can submit your application for an open work permit together with your application for permanent residence, or after you apply.

Hi

No, you can't apply online. You would need to apply by paper.

Note that you would be applying to change your status from student to worker, so if the work permit is approved before you finish your program, you would no longer be able to study.

i dont want to change my status, i just want to be able to hold study permit and work permit at same time

Then wait until you graduate and apply for a PGWP.
