OWP Extension and Visa Renew

I am an OWP holder and due to my passport expiration, I had to renew it recently from inside Canada. I am waiting for my OWP extension now. It shows it will take 166 days. My question is after getting an extension how I can apply for the visa renewal? Any guideline would be very helpful.
