OWP - already have Closed WP Spouse PR Inland Online

Hi,

We are planning to apply for Spouse PR online. I see that I will have to apply for OWP separately once I get AOR.
I am confused at one point since I already have a Closed work permit
- Do I need to apply for OWP? or
- Do I need to apply for a change in conditions on my Work permit?
after I get AOR

Just want to know views from you guys, but I think I may have to call IRCC to get clarification on this point.

You would benefit from applying for the OWP if:

1. Your closed WP will be expiring within the next 6 months or so.

And

2. You are applying with an Inland application.

Otherwise, no need to do so.

If 1 and 2 apply, the OWP would give you Maintained Status throughout the PR process, meaning that you would not need to extend your legal status when your current WP expires. It would not allow you to continue working if it is not received before your current WP expires, though.

To benefit from this, you would apply for the OWP and Inland sponsorship at the same time. If you do not, you would not benefit from the Maintained Status.
