Hello,

*Edit: I've just noticed the sticky thread and will read through that!!*

Hope someone can clarify what we need to do. I've browsed the treads here for a while but having a hard time finding the information I'm after.

I am a Canadian citizen living in the UK (permanent resident of 13 years). My husband is a UK citizen and we have a child (2 years old) together.
Both my parents live in Canada and are now very poorly so we want to move back to help care for them. We are currently attempting to apply for a spouse visa (outside Canada) for my husband, but when filling out the IMM 1344 form (Application to sponsor agreement and undertaking) it has questions for a cosigner.

As we live outside of Canada, my husband is ineligible to cosign. Will this make us ineligible or make the process more difficult?

Would anyone recommend moving to Canada first and then apply from within? Feel so overwhelmed and anxious to get back to my parents.

Also, my passport has expired this montho_O Should I continue to apply for this visa and then get a new passport (is there a way to update this information after it is sent off?) or should I get my new passport first and update that info on my application?

Thank you to anyone taking the time to read or reply! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't understand your co-signer question. There is no co-signer with spousal sponsorship applications. You are the sole sponsor.

You can submit the application now and include an LOE indicating that that you will submit your new passport details once they are available.

It is your choice if you submit the sponsorship application now or come to Canada first. If you come to Canada first, make sure your husband is aware that he will be entering as a visitor only at that point.

Make sure you already have a Canadian passport for your 2 year old child before you travel. Both you and your child must have valid Canadian passports to travel to Canada since you are Canadian.

Thank you, I guess I was just confused as it asks if I've got a co signer on the form I mentioned above. I can select "no" however I wasn't sure if that would have a negative outcome. Probably overthinking it, but scary to think we may have to wait longer/appeal if not correct.

Thanks so much for your help. Really appreciated! Will continue with our application sooner rather than later then.
