Overstayed us visa as a child

Hello everyone, I will be applying for my students visa in about a month.
When I was a child my parents took me to the US with tourist visa and we overstayed for more than 2 years. It's been 8 years already since we returned to our country but I wanted to know if this could affect the application and if I should even mention it. I would really appreciate any info
