Hey everyone just thought I'd post my experience and timeline for all those people stuck in the waiting game!
I applied outland through the Buffalo office and sent my application in February 2011.
CIC did not start processing my application until early April 2011.
I got confirmation of my acceptance in January 2012.
CIC received my passport photocopies on January 26, 2012.
I received my confirmation of permanent residency on February 27, 2012
I landed on February 29, 2012
The processing time on the CIC website is pretty realistic, so expect for your applications to take at least that long.
I was told at the border that my PR Card would arrive in the mail within 6 to 8 weeks.
