Hi everybody,

first apology if this has been already discussed earlier. I searched through the forum and read a few topics but I didn't find anything that would make this issue clear.

I have my permanent residency application package ready, the only thing that is missing is the FBI Identity History Summary that I requested in November. They processed it in March but the quality of the fingerprints weren't good enough for the checking process. So I have to do the request again which means another 13-15 weeks of waiting until I send out the application. Huge delay to say the least!

Now I'm wondering whether I could send out the PR application with a proof that I have requested the summary from FBI already and tell CIC that I will submit the summary as soon as I get it.

Could they start the sponsoring application part already without my summary or would this result in denying my application?

I would appreciate any shared experiences and/or information you have received from CIC itself.

Thank you very much and good luck everyone!

Hey,

Sorry to hear that your fingerprints got rejected. Speaking from experience my fingerprints were continuously getting rejected (no matter where I went). What finally worked for me was moisturizing my hands like crazy for a few days before I got my fingerprints done again. So make sure to moisturize!

Many people here have submitted their file without their police clearance. Some has had success and some has had delays. This is all up to you.

If you want to go the route of submitting it without your clearance be sure to mention that the police clearance is being requested. Hopefully you will receive the clearance before they request for them.

I feel for you. I was on pins and needles until I received my report.

Speaking from my experience, I sent my fingerprints in six weeks before my immigration application. Got the results back and couriered to Ottawa just as they started working on my file. Hopefully they will match up and not cause any delays.

Definitely include a letter with your application. And when you get your fingerprints done again, take several sets and send them all in.

Good luck!

yes, many people send in their app without the FBI check. it isn't essential for the sponsor approval, so CIC "looks the other way" and continues processing the sponsor app. The Visa office will request it down the road if it's not included. It's usually best practice to include a letter stating the issue and noting it will be sent to the visa office when received (this reduces the risk of your app being deemed "incomplete" - though it's rare that happens regarding a criminal check). CIC is aware of how long FBI checks take, so it's not usually an issue and assuming you get the record in before or when they start processing the applicant's application, it doesn't usually cause a delay.

Thank you so much for your answers! I'm sorry to hear this has happened to other people as well! But your replies were what I was mainly after, just confirmation that it's not a bad idea to send the application already (of course it's not 100% sure but I'm willing to take the risk), just with a good explanation why the summary is missing.

Thank you so much for all the tips as well, I will moisturize like there's no tomorrow, and will make sure I'll send multiple prints! And hope for the best!

I sent in my application without the police check. I did include a letter indicating I have applied already and enclosed proof of delivery and copies of the application and fingerprints - my application was processed and received SA with no problems.

Good luck

That's great, I'm glad to hear it worked for you, means it might just work for me, too. Thank you for sharing this!

I just got off the phone with the FBi, they are processing applications from the first week of January 2016 right now!

We submitted my husbands Jan 4, 2016, sent our PR application to CIC Feb 23rd. Already received SA, and file was transferred to our VO.
VO will most likely ask or the FBi records in the next couple of weeks, we are hoping that we will have them by then.
Like I said, i just spoke to the FBI and the lady said my husbands prints are being run right now, credid card has been charged. So we are just waiting for them to complete, and once they do, it will ge sent out within 48 hours via first class regular mail.

Good Luck everyone!

Hello,
May I know how you contacted the FBI ? Is there a phone number that I can reach them at ??

My Summary request has been delayed by the FBI due to address change issue. They are saying about 3 more weeks. I have 6 more weeks to accept the invitation. What do i do?
What stream are you going through? I'm only familiar with family sponsorship. The only thing I can suggest is to submit a webform enquiry if you think you won't get your summary request in time.
