Hi lovely people,

I plan to file an outland application of spouse sponsorship. I (principle applicant) already reside in Canada with a Visitor's multi-entry VISA valid until Jan. 2021. My understanding of the multi-entry VISA is that each visit has to be shorter than 6 months, but if I submit an *inland* application of spouse sponsorship then I would be able to remain in Canada longer, under implied status. However, my application is outland. Do I still get to stay in Canada for longer than 6 months, or must I leave and then re-enter?

And if after submitting the outland application, I stay in Canada for longer than 6 months but then leave Canada and re-enter, does that mean I'll lose my implied status?

Thank you!!

You can simply apply to extend your stay. Until a decision is made, youll have implied status. We applied outland and just extended his stay!!! Good luck

Neither "outland" or "inland" PR applications provide you with any immigration status. It is only the parallel "OWP" application submitted with the "inland" application that provides "implied status". You will need to apply for the extension, as previously stated.

Thank you! I have a valid VISA. By "extension" do you mean to apply for the visitor record?

No. Theres a way to apply to extend your vvisit

Which is exactly what zardoz said except he clarified that just an inland app gives zero status.
I quoted the wrong reply. Simple mistake!

Is it possible to apply a OWP when you are in Canada on a TRV with outland application in progress ?
