I think we need a thread that is dedicated to applicants who are applying outland but living in Canada like myself.not sure how many applicants. Couldn't find anyone in the forum so here is the thread. If not nessary moderator can remove this thread.

My case is :
Living in Vancouver for 5 years on a work permit.
In a 3 year. Relationship with a Canadian common law partner.
Will apply for outland soon.

Please put your timeline to help others.

It is better to pay it with the application. If you wait for them to ask for it, this delays the processing of the application.

No. If the applicant doesn't have to go to an interview, there should not be any reason he or she would have to go back to their country. You can usually arrange something to deal with the COPR and the passport, then 'land' by flagpoling at the US border, or landing at a CIC office in Canada.

However, it also depends where the visa application is being processed. Arranging this is more difficult for some countries than others.

Thanks. I am a Turkish citizen so I believe application goes to Ankara. We will see how it goes.

Is there any step where we are able to choose visa office ? I called the cic and agent told me I can choose but no grantee. But I didn't ask a what stage I am able to choose.

CIC chooses, usually either the applicant's country of residence or country of nationality. There used to be a place on the forms where you could indicate your choice, but I believe that has been removed.

For the forms in part three, you can choose the country of residence or the country of nationality, but if CIC chooses the other country, then this will cause some delay while they request missing forms.

I will send the form for Turkish applicants from part 3 as well as imm008 generic form for Canada. Hopefully they decide on where I reside. But Ankara visa office is fast only 6 months.but I don't know how fast the processing time for Canada VO Hoping the good for me.

So it was sent to VO in your country; not in Canada although you live in Canada.

I don't know what to hope honestly..good luck to all

Hi !
I'm joining this thread !
I'm French, living in Vancouver since 1,5 year with my Canadian partner. I'm still under visitor status, as I can easily travel for now and renew my status for 6 months each time I get a stamp on my passport.
Anyway, we are now common law, a.d my partner sponsors me for PR. He received his approval on April 14th, by mail with a PDF explaining all (but no update on the CIC website). They say that my file is sent to Paris VO for further processing.

Let's wait and update !

Dong

Hi, I am also in Canada now with my common-law spouse. Do I need to submit police clearance from here or just from my country? I am the applicant.

Hi, you do not need to submit clearance from Canada, CIC has access to those records already. You only need to send police certificates from any country (other than Canada) if you lived there for 6 months or more after the age of 18.

Am I correct to assume that all of us on this particular forum are using our address here in Canada as Residential and Mailing address?

Thanks :)

Thank you! I was just confused because my consultant said I should get one, but I read here that I don't need to. I already submitted my application so I guess I just have to wait if they ask it from me. ;)
