Hi everyone! I was hoping someone could shed some light on my situation. :) My boyfriend, who's Canadian, and I were married November 10th 2014, sent our applications out end of January 2015. I'm hoping to go back at the end of April because i'm thinking our paperwork will be done in May? I'd like to think that since i'm from the states and our application and story is pretty straight forward, that it won't take longer than the 5 months or so. Or if anyone knows how long it takes once my husband is approved as a sponsor. if anyone has familiarity with this please let me know! The waiting game is horrible! THANKS.

I highly doubt your application will be done in 5 months stage 1 approval is already at 90 days and the ottawa VO is still working on July applicants. Your probably looking at the earliest august for the application to be finished.

You sent your application ~ 17 days ago and are already saying "the waiting game is horrible"? LOL! ;)

I agree with jamsham12...you might have your PR by end of Summer.

Well it was received the 26th of January. And from what i'm reading, which is a lot of good and bad, some people's applications were all processed in different time lengths and at this point I feel like it's the luck of the draw on how quickly one's application goes through. And ps, good for you for being able to count, yes, its only been a few weeks but it sucks. It'll suck in 2 months too.

5 months was totally reasonable last year. Many were getting their COPR in 3-6 months. There was a stretch late summer of last year where the average was 3-4 months! But sounds like things have slowed down (maybe because of Mississauga). In any case 6-8 months seems more reasonable now.

Wow! No need to get snarky! ;)

Even if you haven't gotten your PR when you plan to return, you will still be able to visit your husband and likely stay with him IN CANADA while you wait. All you need to do is extend your visitor status, if needed, while you wait. Piece of cake for most Americans.

Hurry up and wait, hurry up and wait. ;) Hopefully, they don't mess up yours like they did mine and a few others. Mine took double the time as the rest of the people who filed when I did. They misfiled my paperwork into the inland pile or some such nonsense. So my best advice, don't plan too far ahead, you make get thrown a curve ball.

I am from AZ, I came to Canada in March of 2014. My application is still awaiting SA (Sponsorship Approval), this due to my awn errors of course. December 5th is my acceptance date and SA should be granted this month to early next month. Your wait is truly dependent upon your situation, though you feel your case is straight forward the officer may not and request that you go for an interview. If you have the financial means and a STRONG mind than yeah...sure come to Canada and WAIT!! Otherwise my suggestion, visit your partner but stay in the US until you're approved. I have bad days and some good days, some days we argue because of immigration it definitely can take a toll on your emptions. Though the sound of living in Canada with your soul mate sounds great! you'll still have to wait, then wait some more... Hey did I mention you'd have a wait? So if patience if your forte and mental stability you own then come on down...You're the next contestant on CIC has the right to make you wait.

Don't mean to sound like a Debbie downer but the wait SUCKS, not being able to work and living on 1 income when your use to a certain lifestyle and not able to contribute more than you'd care to SUCKS even more. AND if you have children that's harder, I don not but could imagine.

You never truly know what you're getting into until your knee deep in. Take it slow, if you're not 100% committed and I mean eating off the same spoon taking baths together < huh lol,,, being with each other LOTS cause' you cannot afford to go out on your 1 income much and being solely dependent on your supposed soul mate. Then stay in the USA, have a back up, I've read some horror stories on here.

Now for the good Chit!

I am in love have 3 pups we get by the best we can and love each other through the eternal CIC waiting time, Ive actually given up on CIC.. you will too, then you'll get an approval the next day lol. Hey they're busy to...Drinking Mai tias on Holidays, jk they work hard ...cough cough.!

Goodluck!
