My wife's ECAS was changed to Decision Made on May 5th and still waiting for her PP and visa. IOM is no longer providing the service of sending/receiving PPs from SVO. My wife has to sent it via DHL and we would expect SVO to send it back by courrier or registered mail. Your wife should be receiving it soon.
Hey KBean ... where do you live in Canada? I was wonder if you live in Ontario and if your wife departure from Tan San Nhat airport; we could book the ticket later on so our wives could travel together ... Let me know ... thanks

do you think it matters that on my wife's Vietnam passport it only has the year for her birthday? will that be a problem for CIC or SVO?

haha, my wife is from a place that is very village like.hahah. in her house hold registry, her dad, her mom and herself do not have a day and month for date of birth, only year. so, her ID only has the year as well and when she went to do her passport that is what she gave them, and apparently that's all they printed on her passport. strange, i know. how can the vietnamese gov't only put the year for date of birth on a passport. :)

you should ask ur wife to have a new passport done with accurate and full birthdate. Having just the year I'm afraid might not suffice. How would ur wife explain the passport if she presented it at immigration port in Canada? Just my opinion.

Many applicants here in Vietnam they sent their passport through Fedex or DHL. Go ahead with that. You should not wait for IOM

You should inquire IOM about sending passport with DHL or FedEx. We wasted 2 weeks waiting for them and decided to use DHL instead.

That's pretty weird. I would definitely include an explanation to CIC about this because they might think the passport is a fake. But if they're experienced enough with Vietnamese who live in the remote rural areas, and if this really is a common practice, then the VOs shouldn't have any problem with your wife's passport. Just include the explanation just in case. What about her birth certificate, criminal record, and marriage certificate? They've just the year too?

yeah, it is weird. her birth certificate does have her full date of birth but her family registry and her ID doesn't. when she went and got her passport done, they only required her household registry, i think, and so that's what they used for her date of birth.

yes, i will definitely include an explanation. i called CIC today and they said to do exactly what you said i should do. thanks mikeymyke.
