Hey Bold9900,

Congratulations, although I am very jealous, but I am happy for you nevertheless! hehe
Unfortunately, the re-chest xray has delayed my file a few weeks. Considering that Manila received your file on 11-5-2012, this must mean that your file is processed fairly quickly!

Hope you see you spouse soon!!!

Does anyone have any idea when interviews will take place in Vietnam. I receive my wife's first letter stating that she will go to interview on nov 4 2011. It is now nov 10 2012. So far no indication of interview date time and place. Total 18 months since Singapore received my wife's application. On the Canada immigrations website the average processing time has steadily gone up from 18 months from the time I applied to 23 months 18 months later. So far it has 20 months since I sent the applications to Mississauga. wow!
My wife got the 1st interview letter on Nov. 11, 2011, so our time line is the same now. If you read the letter it says up to 2 years. It could be until Nov of 2013 before we get the 2nd interview letter.

Like Bold9900 mentioned Singapore is doing some interviews right now... just not Vietnam. Hopefully it will be Vietnam next.

My wife's status changed to "in process" on Sept 18th but she have not receive anything from Singapore yet. I ordered GCMS note and found that our paper had been approved. In it, a entry from sept 26 stated that she should get her re-med soon but so far she have not received anything. I'd also emailed SVO last week and still have not got any reply.

Hello Everyone,

I too am waiting for my spouse's status to change from application received.

What is GCMS? And is it worth it? Does it hurt your case? How do you request it? What does it mean?

My spouse is from Vietnam and Singapore received my package March 13/12..

Thanks, Jimbob..

Hey Stevent,

Question? when you departure form Vietnam which port? Ho Chi Minh or Ha Noi? Do you have any problem with the Vietnamese custom?
Hi Bold9900,
Congrats to you and your wife on the upcoming reunion!
My wife departed from HCM city and we did not have any problem with the Vietnamese customs. It was a smooth and quick departure. I accompanied my wife on her trip from Vietnam to Canada and we brought a lot of tropical fruits. Not a single problem with both Vietnamese and Canadian customs regarding our paperwork and luggage. I completed the declaration form in details, listing all items indicated on the form and proceed to the CBSA waiting area to complete the landing process for my wife at Pearson International Airport. No physical search or checking our luggage by CBSA was necessary.
By the way, my wife received her PR card 3 weeks ago.
Good luck and take care!

Thanks Stevent!! and Thanks for sharing your departure experience with us. You did mentioned that only takes you four weeks to get your passport back from SVO? correct? Now I'm on my third weeks...hopefully I will recieve it back by next week.

That's really super fast to received your PR Card.

I have another question, did you apply your wife's OHIP yet or you have to wait for 90 days then go apply?

Just and update to my file.

This week I emailed singapore VO to let them know my Canadian phone number was changed and also asked if they had recived my application yet as ECAS had not updated my status in a while. Not expecting a reply for along time I found this email the following day.

"Dear Sir,

Thank you for your enquiry to the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in Singapore.

This Family Class application was received by our office on 19-Jul-2012 after being forwarded by Case Processing Centre Mississauga. Please note that we do not send an Acknowledgement of Receipt for sponsored spouse, partner, and child applications, given that they are processed very quickly. This application is currently pending initial review, after which we will contact the applicant directly to advise the outcome of the review and any next steps.

We are striving to make our processing of Family Class applications as efficient as possible. We continue to meet our commitment to a service standard of 6 months to finalization for at least 80% of cases for sponsored spouses, partners, and children. Processing times are calculated from the date the application is approved by Case Processing Centre Mississauga, after which it is sent to the visa office for further processing. For individual cases, actual processing times may vary depending on the complexity of the application and the number of new applications received by the visa office.

Applicants can check the status of their case on the CIC website by clicking on Client Application Status. For actual processing times of permanent resident applications in Singapore for the last 12 months, please click here. Applicants may also refer to our website, www.singapore.gc.ca, for more information about processing times."

So if this letter is to be taken at face value since our application arrived 19 July then we should be approved by Jan or Feb.
It would be great timing as I am headed back end of Dec till Mid Jan. Coming back togeather would be great but I think its more likely she will have to follow 1 month after or so.

As a sponsor I have the right to receive a decision in 24 months. The letter that states 24 months that you and I received is a standard letter. The actual time it takes can be more than 24 months for her to arrive because 24 is only for the decision. I made an inquiry in Singapore and they actually answered back. I will post their answer.

This was their answer to my inquiry. I was surprised they even answered back.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Thank you for your enquiry to the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in Singapore.

Please note that we do not send an Acknowledgement of Receipt for sponsored spouse, partner, and child applications, given that they are processed very quickly. This application was received in Singapore on October 04, 2011. Applicants can check the status of their case on the CIC website by clicking on Client Application Status.

Following an initial review, this application was queued for interview and is currently awaiting its turn for scheduling, based on the date it was received. Interviews are normally conducted at the High Commission of Canada in Singapore. Once an interview date is scheduled, the applicant will receive an appointment/interview letter approximately four to six weeks before interview.

For actual processing times of permanent resident applications in Singapore for the last 12 months, please click here. Applicants may also refer to our website, www.singapore.gc.ca, for more information about processing times.

We hope this information will be of assistance.

Sincerely,

The other thing that bothers me is that they state that interviews are normally conducted in Singapore???????
I have asked my wife to go to the consulate to inquire when the next set of interviews takes place in HCM city. To see whether the government has transferred the cost of traveling to the applicant. Very possible under budget cuts. No more VO traveling back and forth to Hanoi or HCM. Maybe now the applicant must pay to travel to Singapore and the Canadian government saves the money.
I don't know what to believe from these people any more. Processing times are calculated from the time my sponsorship is approved. I was approved on March 28 2011 and the file was transferred on May 13 2011. Ecas states file received May 13 2011. They claim that they received it on October 4 2011. I think that this is when they actually looked at it. If I take the first letter seriously that they can take up to 24 months for interview that makes it nov 2013. 30 months after I received approval to sponsor. I need to get a lawyer. Somehow I believe that this government is not following the law.
