In March 2011 I moved to Guangzhou where my then girlfriend lives. We got married Sept 17, 2011. We reside together in Guangzhou since our wedding.

2011.11.9 - Sent application to CPC-M via Fedex
2011.11.14 - CPC-M received application
2012. 1. 20 - Sponsorship approval
2012. 2.6 - Hong Kong received forwarded application
2012. 2.9 - Letter requesting 5 new pictures (we shouldn't have written names on the back)
2012. 4.2 - Letter saying application is queued for review, would inform if interview is required in 180 days
2012. 5.14 - Interview letter received
2012. 8.6 - We went to Hong Kong office together for interview, I was interviewed 15 mins first, my wife 20 mins after. At the end my wife was told by VO she was satisfied with our relationship. Passport left.
2012. 8.9 - E-status changed from 'Application received' to 'In process'
2012. 8.17 - E-status showed 'Decision Made'
2012. 8.23 - Received registered mail with passport and landing paper.

Preparing for leaving now.

Thanks for all the information I got from this forum. Hope this may of help to other fellow applicants who are in the process.

Looks good. Congrats!

So if no interview, it would have been finalized within 5 months after HK received the application from CIC-M. That's what I'm hoping for our case!!

Good luck with the move...

Just to let others know...I sent a case specific enquiry to the HK visa office yesterday. They replied today. Pretty fast! They said not to contact them again as this could cause the processing time to increase. Total BS, but this is CIC.

It sucks not knowing. It also sucks that you have to wait for them to contact you. Why it takes so long for straightforward cases is beyond me. Processing times just went down from 18 to 17 months, so that's a good thing. Hopefully that means that they will be processing faster than usual...

Anyway, it's just a matter of waiting. It sucks!

Thanks for the info. quick question. You said they asked for 5 new photos:

"2012. 2.9 - Letter requesting 5 new pictures (we wrote names on the back)"

What does it mean "we wrote names on the back"? Are you supposed to write your name on the back or not?

Hi, everybody, I also received a letter that we need to send 5 more photos with no signature on the back (I send on 20 July) but until now is no reply and no any news from CIC.
I have send a email to ask HK that did they received my photos, but they reply as following :
Dear Applicant,
Please be advised that we do not confirm receipt of the additional documents submitted by applicant, however, we will communicate with the applicant if the requested information is still pending or not properly received.

Did anybody same as me, I am afraid that the photos lost and they have not received ??? :-[

The only way to be assured that they receive additional documents is to send via courier and make sure to get a delivery confirmation from the courier (ie signed by XXX at 10am on date).

Why would you have written on the back of the photos? The country specific guide does not say to write anything on the photos. I think it's best to try and follow exactly what is written in the guides to avoid these kinds of problems.

I believe you can just mail them to HK office, just quote your file/application number. I don't think that will hurt anything.

We did through registered mail to their PO BOX address, worked. Registered mail can be tracked through HK postal service website that it's delivered. Currier may have to use their physical address.

I have the same situation, they will not acknowledge you for the receipt of photos. I sent my photos at the end of July and they inform me that my interview is wavied and asked for the hong kong police cert in mid aug, so I think your case should be fine. U will get the news from them soon!

Good luck!
