Please help:

How much on an average (just an approximate idea) Ottawa Hydro bill should be each month for a 1 bedroom apartment??? And do we get monthly bill there?

Thanks
T.

i would assume probably $100 or less a month? it would depend on how much electricity you use. obviously certain months are higher than others (ie: summertime with air conditioning running). We live in a 2 bedroom (not very big), and we are between $80-$180 a month depending on the month and our usage.

yes, the bill comes directly to where you live. it is very easy to sign up for over the phone. you can pay by mail, online or at the bank (they will process utility bills).

The rates for hydro, to my knowledge, are uniform across the province. It's "time of use" billing that changes the costs based on the time of day. Taxes levied will be the same. Only thing I could see being different would be any specific local charges but I doubt they'll be much different to other providers.

My wife and I average about $60/month for a 1,000 sq ft 2-bedroom apartment with electric baseboards for heating and an "in-window" AC unit in summer. But that's in Guelph ON. In Winter it's a little higher and in summer a little less but $60 is about the average.
