original or notarised?

Hi, I am planning to send my documents for federal soon waiting for PCCs meanwhile. Do I need to send originals of my birth certificate and marriage certificate or can i send notarised ones? If original, does VO return them back to us?

Hi,
thks for the reply. I am a quebec selected applicant. On the VO instruction, it stated that PCC is to be submitted with application. On the instruction, they mentioned to submit identity documents but didnot mention copies or photocopis of same. Tht's y i am confused whether original or copies.
