hi,

I just got my PPR, and they have asked me to submit passports for my spouse and myself to Ottawa.

It is illegal to send passports from my home country to overseas. I am wondering what are my options here?

- Email VO and request him/her to have my spouse's PP stamped from local CHC? (I think this might not happen)
- I don't mind going back home just to get her passport, but my visa has expired (i am on work permit)

Does any one know how long it takes to get the temporary resident visa if i were to apply today?

Also, are there any other options that I should consider?

your help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

If you have a friend or family member who is traveling from your country to Canada, they can carry your wife's passport and bring it to you as long as you provide them with a letter of authorization to carry the passport.

Try to get temporary visa....This is the best option you have.Attach the letter and request them to expedite the process of issuing you a temporary visa

regards

Currently, it takes 27 calendar days to get a TRV for valid work permit holders in Canada. You can check the processing times here

thanks for the prompt replies, guys!

I will definitely apply for TRV and hope that I get it within a month, I have to submit the passports within 60 days.

I have an uncle in the US and I was thinking if he can go to my home country and get her passport, and then mail it to me from the states, do you think that would be a problem? As sending passport from US <-> Canada is legal.

Hi Senior, I think i will be having the same problem in a few months as well. My spouse has never entered/visited Canada and once CPC Ottawa requests passports, I will have to somehow get her passport here as well. I was wondering if:

1. Your spouse has also never visited/entered Canada?
2. In the email, did they strictly requested that the passports must get submitted to Ottawa?
3. Why is CPC Ottawa not letting people submit passports to the Canadian Embassy abroad like they do for FSW?

I will really appreciate your answer to the above.

hi Jaddy,

1. correct
2. yes, passports must be submitted together to ottawa
3. I don't know man....i called them yesterday, and the lady said just send your passport with reasons/explanation why you can't send your spouse's passport, and they will get back to you with further instructions.

I am not sure if I should take her words?

I have also emailed ottawa office and haven't got a reply yet. Don't know what to do.

Hello guys,

I am September applicant and I am in the same boat.

I have still not received Medical or PPR request but please post how you guys manage to get spouse's passport from india!

Does anyone know how long we have before we absolutely have to submit our passport to CPP-O? I mean I am going to india in July/August, can I come back with his passport and then sent it to ottawa or we have to submit in few weeks after we get PPR.

Also, both the passports have to be sent together right?

Thanks,
P
