One of my friend got rejected from Regina due to plagiarism in SOP. He applied for master in Engineering course. Regina mentions on website that they do share plagiarism information with other universities.

What are options left now? In which universities he can apply now?

Regards

He should apply to universities in countries other than Canada.

thanks for your reply..

so no other university will accept in Canada? not even private universities or colleges etc?

He's probably out of luck with the public universities since they share information. But I suppose he can try.

Colleges don't grant degrees - he can't take a Masters at a college.

Private universities have much poorer reputations than public universities. They don't always offer Masters programs and if they aren't recognized by CIC, no post graduate work permit. So it's hard to say if a private university is an option.

If he really copied it then should forget Canada, but he didn't its a coincidence then he should tell university about this, If he has wrote his SOP he can easily justify it, I mean why he wrote it, where he get the information, and honestly if he cant write two pages by himself, he better don't apply for Canadian university,,

Why you copied even a single line from somewhere? Come on !!!!!
Universities have SHARED BAN LIST of the students with plagiarism.
Now if you will apply to some other university, they will also reject your file :-/

The only best thing is, email them, admit your mistake. Apologize for the plagiarism and ask them to kindly remove your name from BAN LIST of students. This is just a try and it is hard that they will accept your appeal but still give it a try.

If u ask me its impossible if u write it by urself and it matches upto a certain level with someone else, most of the university check if its more than 70% is match then its a plagiarism, some take upto 60%, so its really rare that ur work matches with someone else work upto 60%, well in Canada plagiarism is considered as crime and yes most of the canadian universities share information about students, he can apply for some universities but changes of rejection are very high, but he should give it a try..

thanks bro, only few sentences in SOP are found over the internet by co-incidence. It may be 10%, regina uni says it does say matter how much percent. Any suggestions for universities to try??? Should I mention to university to whom I am applying before sending application?

I got same answer for u, nothing is ruined u can apply in other canadian universities, but chances are slim because most of the universities share info, but applying will cost u aroung 50 dollars then why not,,
