Urgent answer required.

I moved to Canada in April 2023, and my husband arrived in November 2023. We obtained a work permit in 2024 and submitted our PR application in November 2025 after receiving an October invitation. I endured emotional, physical, and financial abuse in the marriage, and he also threatened my family in India. After leaving the shared home with support from my parents and others, he continues to pressure me to keep him on my PR file. I want to know the process and requirements to remove him from my PR application with IRCC.

You say “We” received a work permit and then submitted a PR application.

So, what is YOUR legal basis for being in Canada?

How did you enter Canada? As a student or a visitor? Who got the initial work permit? Was it you or was it him? Is either of you on a spousal open work permit?

The PR application: who is the principal applicant? Is it you? What category did you get the offer in? Did he provide points as part of the application so that you had enough to qualify for an ITA?

We need to do know the basis of your immigration history in order to help you fashion a way forward here.

I am the principal applicant, i came to canada as a student. Then i got the work permit and then later he received. He did not provide much points in my application. I was alone having 507 CRS score and received ITA then I included him and score went low but it was still above the cut off. So, we both got qualified and applied our file.

Apply to withdraw his application. Don't let him get PR.

If she fills out the webform to remove her spouse from the application, will it affect her application in any way? Will IRCC put her application on hold or request any additional supporting documents?
She doesn’t have a separation agreement, and the divorce filing hasn't started yet. However, she has moved out and is living on her own. Would that be considered sufficient proof of separation, or does IRCC require formal documentation as evidence?
Sorry for asking so many questions. I just want to get some clarification and make sure she understands the process properly.
@Naturgrl any suggestions?

No. She is the main application so it will not change her timelines. She doesn't need a separation agreement or divorce filing to submit a profile to stop his PR application. If the marriage has broken down she should file now before he gets PR.

Should start legal separation and divorce asap. The only option may be before legal documentiom of separation or divorce may be listing them as non-accompanying. No matter what they can’t be listed as accompanying.
