Hello,
I am very much interested in studying psychology and would like to pursue a career in this field. However, i feel like it has limited options for the masters as well as the career aspects.
If i go for psy. i can do my undergrad outside of Canada and my master's in (probably I'm not 100% sure) Canada. Do you guys have any idea about psychology programs on the masters level that does not lead to academia and has career prospects? I like clinical psy. but i do not know the details of the procedure of becoming a clinical psychologist. Does any of you know? What about I/O Psychology or developmental psychology, is it possible to find a work with these degrees? Also, the last question are there any post-grad diploma programs available for psy. graduates? i was thinking maybe early child education might work but I'm not sure.

Psychology is always a tough field to get a career in. You will probably need a PhD and jobs are competitive. I am not an expert in the field though.

Working as a clinical psychologist requires a PhD. Same with developmental psychology.

but it says the masters is sufficient on the web.
I have friends who work in these fields. Employers are looking for PhDs and have their pick of candidates.

This is one of those "go big or go home" situations. Either go for the PhD or pick another field. That's my advice.

You'll be disappointed with your job prospects with just a Master's.

BTW - in many (most?) provinces you actually cannot become a clinical psychologist with just a Master's. This designation requires a PhD. You can become a chartered psychologist with just a Master's but that's not the same thing and limits job opportunities.

Got it, I don't expect big salaries tbh. If it is possible to find a job with low salary after master's, that's fine.

I'm sure you can do that.

It's just that your original post was mentioning interest jobs that really require a PhD. If you're OK giving those up, not an issue.

To be a clinical psychologist? Yes, you need a PhD.
I'm sure you can do that.

as far as i know, i need to find a job related to my field, in order to stay in Canada. So is it possible to find a job, related to psychology after my master's?

No - you don't need a job in your field.

Where are you studying? Are you doing both these programs in Canada? How does marketing help your career?
I do not study psychology in Canada I will start studying psychology or management in Italy or Belgium. I am interested in both fields and marketing is a combination of both so that's why I considered it.

Even though i really like psychology, this field is not advanced in my country especially in research so i would like to stay but if it's nearly impossible to pursue a career in this field then i will either choose a different major or choose a different country :/
