Hi,
So I just realised that the Option C assessment is different than the t4. We're just about the lodge our application, and don't have time to wait for the latest option C to get sent out (we have the latest T4).
My question to you guys is: given that the checklist says provide an option c, or explain why you have not, do you think I can send in last years option c with my application, and write that the most recent one will be sent in asap as an addendum? Copying the barcode page of the application etc..
Thanks for your input everyone, I'm finding all these treads extremely helpful.
Cheers

Re: option c/t4 troubles

Your notice of assessment is also not the option c. If you have a MyCRA account however, I believe you can print the option c online.

Re: option c/t4 troubles

thanks for the reply.. the document checklist does say that computer printouts are a popular mistake that people make regarding the Option C, and to send in originals that are sent out from the CRA. So I'm still wondering whether sending in what I have, with a signed note explaining the misunderstanding and that the Option C is on its way, is a workable solution, given that time is of the absolute essence?

when I sended mine in February, I didn't have option c too. so I sended (Notice of assessment, Pay stubs, Job letter). When I sended mine, I ordered my last and current year option c by calling CRA in case if they ask for it. So you can send and then send it later if you have last years you can send that. So send your application and order your option c right away by calling CRA.

Cool.. thanks!

Your option C print out is for the sponsorship part . They want to see if you have collected welfare . You won't be able to send anything in until your receive some sort of AOR. I f you can wait and get an option C you are better off submitting a full and complete application . One way or another you are going to wait . They won't process your application without a Option C if you are living inside Canada. You can get an option C from 2013 tax year as you may not have filed 2014 yet.

The Option C will be mailed out (snail mail) and takes about 10 days to receive.

I got SA without including any option C or T4. I gave a note explaining why I wasn't, and I was approved to sponsor. I've since gotten my notes, and it isn't mentioned at all.

I would mail it now without the option C. Explain why in the space they give for that very purpose and mention that you will forward it as soon as you get it. Inlcude anything else you've got that shows income.

As the sponsor are you in Canada ? If so you were very lucky to get SA . The only people that normally gets SA without option C is either Quebec or if you are not currently in the country and is returning to Canada.

You must have wrote one hell of a letter :D. It does say in the supporting documents to have an original Option c printout . I guess if you are not in Canada when you apply for sponsorship you can't provide an option C. Every one in Canada has to file taxes even if they don't work. The option C as I said before is to establish that you have not collected welfare.

I wrote "look here, you nosy bastards. I'm not sending the Option C and that's that. And don't be coming back to me with your whining about 'we need to see it'. Just approve me so we can all get on with our lives!"

Is it too late for April Fool's?

Hahahaha @ the "censored word" part! The system did that, the word I put kind of rhymes with custard.
