Hi,

I currently live and work in the UK and my wife is working in Canada. Every day is a struggle because I miss her so much (sure you have all been through it). We have put our application together and my part is on its way to Canada(Hopefully soon as the world has gone mad and my applications a few pieces of paper are stuck in customs! UPS doing great job...)

We are applying OUTLAND application through London but I have read somewhere that I automatically get Open Work Permit when you have applied is that true? Is there any way I can move to Canada and find a job, while they process my application? Is it massive trouble to change addresses?

I don't mind to have to fly over here if I'm required for Interview... all I want is for me and my wife to be together again!

Cheers,
K

open work permits are only available for people who apply INLAND. if you have applied outland you will not be entitled.

however, inland has other drawbacks.. like taking longer, and you lose your right to appeal.

if your paperwork isn't officially submitted yet (and is just on its way to your wife), you may change your mind to inland. if you have already submitted your application outland, I believe it is too late to change it to inland now.. (other members, correct me if I am wrong)

let me at least assure you, though, that if you stick with outland, London seems to be one of the FASTEST offices. I am jealous of all the London people I've seen fly through this forum in just 2-3 months! Buffalo is taking forever..

No, that's not true. Open Work Permits are only given to those applying INLAND once they have reached the First Stage of Approval.

If you are from an exempt-visa country you can still come and visit your wife; but to be allowed to work in Canada you would have to apply for a Work Permit and there's a whole other process to get it.

Do the OUTLAND process, it will take much less time than the INLAND one and you will still be able work(save money) in your home country.
