HI Everyone,

I really need some advice with my application process. I came from the Philippines having a visitor visa and got married here last March (2014). We chose the inland family sponsorship not knowing it is going to take so long. When I applied for my application, I included the work permit application and temporary resident application along with my permanent resident application but not the medical exam coz i wanted to wait until they needed it. Since they received my application in May 2014, the only update I had so far is that they had received my application, nothing else.

My question now is, do i have to apply for another open work permit application as they have this pilot program on going for the inland family sponsorship category? How long is it gonna be before they approve it?

Right now it's taking 17 months to complete stage 1.

If you submitted an OWP with your original application - then you don't need to submit another one. CIC is working through older applications and issuing them now. Unfortunately I don't think any of us can tell you when you can expect to recieve your OWP (hopefully it will be soon).

Hi,

I have a similar situation with you, we have submitted or Sponsorship application last February 2015 but didn't include the OWP application. But Last March 2015, i have submitted my Visit visa extension through ONLINE, never heard of them yet.The expiry date of my Visitors visa is on May 31 2015. My question is should i still send an application for OPEN WORK PERMIT

Your situation is actually quite different than the OP's since you didn't submit an OWP along with your inland application. Yes - you will need to submit an OWP if you want to participate in the pilot program.
