Open work permit with Spousal sponsorship

Hi,

I am currently applying for PR under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class. My husband is a PR and I am working on a closed work permit (yearly contracts) in Toronto. He also works in Toronto. I also want to apply for the open work permit so that I can look out for new jobs and/or avoid the hassle of renewing my contract with my current employer.

I have few doubts regarding the open work permit application when submitting the PR application-

1. Is it correct to select "Apply for work permit with the same employer" in the 3rd question on IMM5710

2. More importantly, my current closed work permit is till Jan 2019 and the HR will soon be sending it for renewal. In this case, would there be an issue if I also parallelly submit an open work permit? Especially because on Page3 of 6 of the form under "DETAILS OF INTENDED WORK IN CANADA", I probably need to fill out the details of my current employer correct ?

1. If you are applying for inland spousal sponsorship with Open Work Permit (OWP) application.......in the 3rd question on IMM5710......since you don't want to be restricted to any employer, i would suggest you select....."An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer".

Check the appropriate box or boxes to indicate if you are applying for:

• A work permit with the same employer
• An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer
• Restoration of your status as a worker
• An initial or an extension of a temporary resident permit

How do I apply for an open work permit?

2. on Page3 of 6 of the form under "DETAILS OF INTENDED WORK IN CANADA".....you need to fill out the details of your current employer......its good to be honest and not hide any information from IRCC.......if OWP is submitted with Inland Sponsorship, IRCC will send AOR within 6 to 8 weeks and the OWP application is usually approved within 4 months and sponsorship PR application within 12 months........your HR may send the request to renew your current work permit, don't see any problem with having both applications with IRCC.
