Hi All,

I'm pretty new to this forum. Heard lot of positive things about this.

Please help me with few questions I have.
I'm PR resident here would like to sponsor my wife who resides outside Canada as of now.
Once she is in Canada early next year(Jan-2019), we are planing to apply PR for her and open work permit along with that.
1. Below link says after Jan-2019 we can opt open work permit with PR application. Please clarify.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/notices/spousal-permit-extended.html
2. Once we apply PR for my spouse, can she leave the county for vacation(if yes, how long). Is it a problem when she comes back (could you please elaborate on this - how many days / rules)

Thanks in advance!!

1. The OWP program is only, at present, in force until January 2019. The government may extend it - I certainly hope so.

2. It depends. She needs to be able to re-enter the country - is she from a visa-exempt country? If not, she will need a visa to re-enter Canada each time she leaves. This can be hard to get. Additionally, she needs to be sure she does not get denied entry by CBSA as that would lead to an inland application being considered abandoned.
