Hi,

I am on a post grad-open work permit. The occupation I am taking is Nursing. I wanted to know since I no longer have a study permit I cant take any educational institution or go to school. I was wondering, what if my hospital offers me a training course, say from regular staff nurse to critical care nurse or OR nurse. Its usually like a 3 month training on the job course. Will this apply as "studying" or is it an exemption and be recognized as part of "training" on the job?

If it does apply and Im not allowed to take that training, once I become a pernament resident, will those restrictions be lifted?

Thanks.

You can study in a course or program that is less than 6 months in duration on your current permit. As a permanent resident, you can study wherever and whenever and for as long as you want.

Excellent. Thank you :)

Even if your course were longer than 6 months, you would not need the study permit. The study permit is only required if you are studying at an educational istitution. Employer based training is not a regulated type of study.
