I have recently applied for study permit for Canada valid for around 2 years , we have also applied for a Open Work Permit for my spouse as dependent , however my study permit got approved recently and the decision for my spouse is still pending. I am actually supposed to join the University for studies by Sept , but since it got delayed we had requested for a deferral. We are in dilemma if I should travel first and then wait for him ? Or should wait till both of ours is approved . In case his visa gets rejected - Can he still travel with me like a visitor ? Or do we need a separate TRV application filed again ?
Our consultant has told that he would surely get a dependent visa but work permit is 50-50. So I am little confused as to what happens when OWP gets rejected ? Do you automatically get just a TRV or do we have to file for it separately again ? If yes , what would be the approximate waiting time ?
