Open work permit extension

Hii All,
My wife is a student at the University of Regina. Her student permit is valid till 30 June 2014.
I applied for a OWP after we came here and was given an OWP till April,2012 as my passport would expire on that day.
Now I have applied for my passport renewal at CGI-Vancouver and the process is underway.
I should have got my OWP till the validity of my wife's study permit, but as my passport was valid only until April 2012, they issued OWP till that date.
My question is can I extend my OWP after getting my passport??

Yes, once you have the new passport, you apply to Vegreville for an extension with a copy of the spouses study permit and your new passport.
