My open work permit application was returned due to insufficient payment (I payed $100 for the Open Work Permit Holder Fee, but didn't realize I also owed $155 for the Work Permit Application Fee). I made the additional payment and sent the OWP application back on Sept. 30th. I originally submitted the Inland Spousal Sponsorship & Open Work Permit application in July, so I was expecting to get the OWP soon. Do you think I'll have to wait an additional 3 months for them to start from scratch with the OWP application? Hoping that's not the case...

Do you still have valid status in Canada? Or were you on implied status after submitting your application?

Yes, I am currently in Canada on a work permit that lasts until early 2019. My current work permit limits me to one position with one employer.

Following! We are in the exact same situation - SS and OWP app submitted together on Sep 5 and OWP returned Nov 6 due to not paying the $155 fee. Some have had it that the officer processing just took the fees out of the PR payment, for the balance to be mad eup for later. But apparently it's up to the officer if they do that or return it. I'd love to know also if the original submission date still stands or if it is resubmitted and goes to the back of the queue again...

back of the queue if returned

Update: Originally submitted the OWP with inland sponsorship app at the end of July. OWP was returned bc of insufficient payment at the end of September. I'm still waiting for the OWP, so I'm assuming it went to the back of the queue. Very disappointing...

Is that 100%? Just asking because some have said they received approval weeks after resubmitting

So frustrating. Especially when you hear that there is a way for them to get around it to avoid that. Either way they still receive the payments. Very disappointing...

Though it's still within the 4 month timeframe so you might still receive it this month.... I truly hope so! Please let me know if you do!

Did you still have valid status when the OWP app was returned?

It goes to the back of the queue because it was your mistake. IRCC would only bump it up if they returned it by mistake.

I sent my sponsorship app with OWP on Nov 11. I only paid 100$ OWP holder fee for that application. Fortunately I read people's OWP was returned due to insufficient payment. I did not want to wait another month or two for them to return the documents so I paid the rest 155$ work permit fee immediately and sent the receipt to CIC via IRCC Web Form. I hope it works.

Yes, still have valid status. If they can deduct the fee from the PR payment for some, they should make that protocol for all applications in the same situation, not return some and not others. So frustrating and inconsistent.

Oh good thing you caught it! Hope it works out for you. Really wish I had been made aware of my mistake in time also. Still not sure why they make it so unclear and have it in two separate fees... o_O

hi, the same thing happened to me, how did you go about fixing this, My application has a stamp of the date received. the letter has a either a scratch or underlining or highlighting in red to re submit to CPC Vegreville, did u submit a new form or sent in the stamped one they sent back, also was it Vegreville u sent it to or back to CPC mississauga where u submitted inland spousal application? Your advice would be appreciated
