Another technical question lets suppose i took the required amount 15143 CAD with me in SAUDI RIYAL, as i wont be spending that much amount over there can i bring back the amount which is left over or do i have to open a bank account there and deposit the same amount and come back with empty handed?

As might i have to borrow amount from some friend just to show them that i have money, and later i will return back the amount to the friend

It is very simple - The first time you land, you MUST be able to show that you have the required funds (based on the number of dependents). You MUST have proof (either as cash/DD/bank statement etc,.). Once you have landed, activated your PR, yes, you can take that money back with you when you are going back to your home country and you NEED NOT show funds when you are coming back to Canada again!

Absolutely point on. You can take the money in different forms (ie: mix of cash and traveler's cheque).

So i do not need to open a bank account and deposit the amount?

So When returning back at the airport nobody will ask me that why i am taking this money back?

Nope. They will not ask you. However, please do keep in mind the fund limits at various ports and make any necessary declarations. Usually upto 10K USD does not ask for a declaration but please do double check before carrying the amounts.

Hi,
It is more than 140 days since I have submitted my application for PR.
Status
Review of Eligibility : Review in Progress
Review of Medical results : Passed
Review of submitted documents : Provided
Scheduling an interview : Not needed at this time
A background check is needed : Not needed at this time
Final decision : Not Started

Also, on the very next day of my application submission I was asked to provide "Schedule 4, Prov Nominees" along with my wife's Original IELTS language proficiency result. I submitted the required documents the same day.

I live in Bangalore, India. Is there a way to request for my application status? If yes, then please help me with the process.

Thanks.

Not unless you are taking their money. No. The requirement to show funds is ONLY at the time of your first landing (when you land to activate your PR status).

Hi eshbhav, we are all in the same boat so don't panic. Expect to get PPR sometime in Aug and for now raise GCMS request if you want to get some progress on your application. However, you will receive GCMS notes after 30 days

Regards,
Subodh

How do I raise a GCMS request? Can you share the process? And is it possible to request for GCMS from India?

Thanks Cofca but my question is still there how much money 15000 CAD or it can be less than that may be 5000 CAD ?
Hi Andy, I see lot you have received the answers to your questions... just to back them; the only time you need to show the required amount (as per your dependents) is on your first visit, you do not need to open a bank account and you can certainly leave Canada with your cash.. You will never be required to prove funds again after the first landing..

Question Andy;
-Did you have many travels in your passport? Have your travelled from your home country before?
-I am made to understand (by a lawyer) that, the applications for those who have travelled a lot take considerable time before consirable. Going by it, my application may take the 6 months or more.
-So if you had not travelled frequently, it definitely played a part in your speedy PPR request...

All the best Andy!!!

Am I the only one whose medicals remain 'Review in Progress' instead of 'Passed' 3 weeks since receiving AoR??

I have seen 'medicals' for many cases here being reviewed in a matter of days and not weeks like in my case...

Anyone else having or had their medicals-review take this long???

Cofca currently i am in saudi arabia and my home country is pakistan and after coming to saudi i have travelled within GCC countries alot and once to malaysia so definetly my passport was full of stamps, i dont know what is the reason behind the speedy PPR, as per the logic i have submitted upfront medical and RPRF too on submission so i guess that skips 2 steps
