Hi,

I am helping my parents apply for a tourist visa to Canada (they are planning a summer break there for 2 or 3 weeks followed by a 2 week stop in the UK).

Should they apply using a paper-based application or online? is there a difference in the documentation/process for either?

Do they need to show confirmed air tickets for their trip? The exact dates are not decided yet. They already have their UK Visa stamped.

Thanks!

Go for online.

Paper: they need to include their passports and biometrics are done at the same time if they submit in person.

Online: passports not yet submitted and will be requested upon approval, biometrics will be requested.

Thank you. Medicals are not required?

Also what about their tickets and hotel bookings?

It's best to submit paper applications. Their applications can be sequenced/referenced suitably so that it is easier for the visa officer to check.

The bigger advantage is that their applications will be processed by an India visa office, not by a global visa office

Generally, no medicals for TRVs. The visa office will inform your parents if medicals are required.

Don't book tickets until visas are granted. Flight itineraries/not paid for will suffice

Thank you @Bryanna. We were leaning towards paper based as well.

Do request the VFS staff to bag both applications together so that these apps will be reviewed by the same visa officer.

Even for paper applications, it is advisable to submit one complete set of common documents for each application.... and not just for the principal application. For example, bank statements of your dad if he will pay for your mom's visit
