Dear forum friends,

I tried to pay my wife sponsorship application fees online (sponsorship +processing+RPR)=$1040 for CPC-M

The payment was declined and I tried another card which worked and I got the receipt, surprisingly my first credit card was charged $1040 so now I double paid $1040X2

What do you advise me and how could I get a refund? I have not sent my application yet, planning to do so by the end of June.

You help are much appreciated

Are you sure it actually went through?

I had real trouble paying online. I was using my mum's credit card as she was lending me the money and it kept declining even though it should have gone through.

I then tried another one of her cards which was also declined. I thought it might be because they were British cards so I called the immigration help line and they put me through to tech support who told me this "is a known problem" that some payments won't go through and that I should pay at a bank (I am living in Canada).

While I was on the phone to tech support my mum called on the other line in a panic and said that she had called the cerdit card companies all the payments had gone though!!! (I must have tried about 3 times!!)

The man in tech support explained to me that the payments would drop off after a week because they wouldn't send the information through to the credit card company to finalise the payment.

This may be what has happened to you and you can try to call the help line to see if that is the case.

In the end I couldn't get a credit card to work and with the impending postal strike I didn't want to wait 2 weeks for them to send out the payment form for me to pay at the bank (you can't download it).

In a total panic by this time I called our local MPs office who said they keep copies of the payment form there just in case. The immigration help line did not tell me this. I was able to pick a form up and pay at the bank the next day without any problems.
