Online application: need to notarize documents?

Hi All,

To apply online do we need to notarize things such as our marriage certificate, since we are sending scans? Eitherway it would be a scan of a notarized documents, so I'm not sure the notarization is necessary?

For visitor visa applications notarized documents are not necessary unless it is specified by your visa processing office.

I have applied and got the email to send the passport. I did not send any notarized copy.
