Captain Forum I will try to better in the future...

It seems that you really do have a problem, name calling for no purpose, strange.

Don't worry I will ignore you again after this reply...

If I was interested, I might wonder why you didn't ignore it in the first place.

Gee I'm sorry I was always taught to answer direct questions... I will try to be more aware in the future it might just be a clever ploy to get a reaction... thanks for the schooling...

You're funny.

"Fanny' in the British English sense must have been the original meaning of the word - as slang - and then when it was brought to North America we somehow misunderstood exactly what area it was referring to. Since the area it refers to in North America is pretty close.
The problem is that it is a cute slang word, that is less offensive than its many alternatives, in Canada and the USA. Whereas it is definitely not cute wherever British English is spoken. I used to teach English in Asia, and a lot of our girl students would choose "Fanny" as their English name. I had no idea why the British/Irish/South African/Australian/Kiwi teachers would be turning red and laughing whenever they heard the word. With the meaning it has in American English, I would suggest it is not the best choice for a name, but one does hear it; after I found out its English English meaning, I just told my students to choose something else.

Enid Blyton wrote the famous five books (I loved them by the way!) and that had an Aunt Fanny in it. And also a character called Dick.
Did anyone else read those books? The secret seven aswell, but that wasnt as good as the famous five!

It seems that Bangkokcanuck - "Baloo the Gods" - appears to have an inferiority complex.

Rational folk are unlikely to perceive the post quoted below as "snotty".

It is not just the Brits that use the colloquial term "Fanny".
It means the same to South Africans, Australians and the Irish.

Wasn't Enid Blyton banned at one point??

Was she? I have no idea!

To me it wasn't wit, you were just trying to be smart and it came across sounding arrogant and like you have a serious attitude problem.
