My friend(Canadian Citizen without family in Canada) wants to know if she can bring to Canada her sister and her brother, her sister is 17 years old and her brother is 23 years old. Is It possible to sponsor them to come to Canada?
Also, my friend is getting marry next year in Peru and she wants to sponsor her future husband to come to canada. So, she wants to know if sponsoring her future husband could create a problem to her sister and brother's process?

Thank You!

If her parents, grandparents are deceased, she is single never married, has no children, doesn't have an Aunt/Uncle/Sister/Brother/Niece/Nephew in Canada, then she could sponsor one brother or sister. If she marries, then no she couldn't sponsor either of them.

Who can be sponsored

You can sponsor:

parents
grandparents
brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, granddaughters or grandsons who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship
another relative of any age or relationship but only under specific conditions (see Note below)
accompanying relatives of the above (for example, spouse, partner and dependent children).
Note: you can sponsor one relative regardless of age or relationship only if you do not have a living spouse or common-law partner, conjugal partner, a son or daughter, parent, grandparent, sibling, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece who could be sponsored as a member of the family class, and you do not have any relative who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or registered as an Indian under the Indian Act.

Who cannot be sponsored
Other relatives, such as brothers and sisters over 18, or adult independent children cannot be sponsored. However, if they apply to immigrate under the Skilled Worker Class, they may get extra points for adaptability for having a relative in Canada.

so, the 17 year old can be sponsored if the 17 year old's both parents are not alive irrespective of your friend's marital status. and the 23 year old can be sponsored if your friend in not married.

If even 1 parent of the 17 yr old is alie, then your friend can sponsor only 1 sibling tht too only if she's not married.

her husband can be sponsored without any problem. But, while the siblings are being migrated, change in her marital staus may or may not affect the siblings' process. Your friend must talk to a lawyer before getting married.

If she lives in a province that has a family stream component on their PNP like AB, SK or MB, she can look at if she can sponsor the older one under that program. The 17 yo. would be too young. They would both have to meet some requirements about having money etc. She could possibly sponsor the 17 yo. under the same program a couple of years later.
