Hello,

Thanks for reading this. I am applying CEC under the code of 4012. CIC received my application on Dec. 19, 2012, then AOR on Feb. 5, 2013, and now Medicals Requested on Nov. 13, 2013. Everything went slowly but well. On Nov. 14, 2013, I received another email requesting the No Crinimal Record Certificate to be issued by Hong Kong Police Department. This email is also well expected since I have lived in Hong Kong for more than 6 months.

What surprises me is that CIC said, as I quote, "This must be received at this office by: 12/14/2013". Therefore, I had only one month to get this done, which is almost impossible since I have personally asked the Hong Kong Police Department, who responded that the normal processing time for such a certificate is 4 weeks. Thus, considering the time I need to send an application package to Hong Kong Police Department, letting them process and issue the certificate, and finally sending the certificate back to CIC, the whole period will definitely be longer than one month.

I plan to further ask CIC about this, but if anyone has related experience, please kindly share with me. Thanks.

Sincerely,
tracyliu

I would suggest that you start the process of getting the PCC n in the mean time send an email to CIC and inform them about your situation.

Well I have not been in such a situation and so I leave it to others to comment on this one.

Best of Luck.

I agree with the above poster. CIC knows processing time varies for PCCs. I'm sure they'll give you extra time to submit it.

Hi

Pls share your progress and how you handle this

I am in more or less similar situation, i have been given 30 days and asked to submit PCC. I am racing against time now, not sure if i would get it. If I am unable to get it at the end of 3rd week, will send them a note that its still under process and would need more time. Especially this being the holiday season, there will be delays for sure.

Were you asked to submit the PCC since you did not include it in the initial documents? Or were you asked to submit another PCC although it was submitted previously?

If you don't mind, can you please tell me how you are applying for HK PCC, should I wait for request from CIC or is it possible get upfront pcc from HK.

@ canadahelp7 - My case in not HK, its Spain. I was hardly there for few weeks and I was surprised when they asked for it. But then I rushed to get it. Not sure if I would get it at all or within the timeline.

@cec2283 - Not sure abt HK, but what I would suggest is, even if you worked/lived/business trips a country for few weeks, its better to get the PCC from there and be ready. I almost had a brain cramp when they asked for it.

Did you ask for clarification whether the Spain PCC is really needed or not? Like send them an email saying "look, I was only there for a few weeks, I shouldn't need to provide the PCC"
