It is apparent that CIC updated its processing time for outland family class. New update states that 18 months will be enough to process applications, however few things need to be considered too.

Visa offices face different challenges operating in different countries and regions, and even in different offices within the same region. Various factors can affect the time it takes to process applications, including:
•the number of applications received;
•the resources at an office;
•the length of time an applicant takes to respond to requests for information;
•the need for medical and security screening; and
•differences in mail service

Hi Eagle333,

Husband received a request for a new set of Immigration pictures on Dec. 3rd. Pictures were received (per Canada Post's signature) on Dec. 10th. We applied on June 1st 2015 and my husband is American. Do you think we still have a long ways to go? We were hoping to get some news before Christmas, but no such luck. What do you think? Do you think we're almost done with this process?!

Hello, I just wonder, me ecas just got third line,

We received xxxxx's application for permanent residence on October 22, 2015.
We started processing xxxxx's application on December 29, 2015.
Medical results have been received.

Does it mean that we passed elegibility and we are off the hook for interview? Seems very quick to me because I got SA on december 17.
I just ask for gcms note.

No, your file has not been opened yet by Visa Office. Eligibility might commence around April or May 2016. The shadow of interview is still looming on top of your file. Not a good idea to request GCMS at this time. You need to grow your patience since you have a long way to walk.

Thank a lot Eagle333 :D

Why it's not a good idea to request GCMS at this time? Bad effect on my app or it's just that i will see nothing usefull? I already ask for it but forgot to sent the consent form from my wife. Suppose to get the form sign tomorrow by my wife.

best regard

Because you will not see much, however you can still request them if you want to see what comments CPC-M wrote about the sponsor.

Eagle can u shed some light of this new 18 month processing thing on CIC website? Does this mean our application will finally be done?

Page 84 post number 2, I answered your question Raz3. It will not be 100% possible to get exactly 18 Months because of those facts outlined there. For your information CIC has been completing some applications even in 9, 10, 11 or even 12-14 months, this is not a new thing.

Hi Eagle333/and everybody

Thanks Eagle for your help understanding what is going on

Hi Eagle
Thank you for every thing
I respect your decision to take more time for yourself
But before leaving i have one last question : can cic deny an application without an interview or askink more supporting documents?
Thank you

Hello michel2603,

There are two ways that an application may follow the refusal path:

1. An interview may have to be called:

If credibility is central to the decision, then an interview is necessary.
If PA does not satisfy the officer what follows will be a refusal letter with whole the details.

2. Humanitarian & Compassionate grounds:

If there was no interview and the lead officer has almost completed your file then finds eligibility failing, he/she will send you a letter telling you how your file has no weight to be granted permanent residency in Canada on certain reasons which the letter will outlined. Then he/she will grand 60 days to provide more information before the file is rejected. This step is called H&C grounds.

The weight given to any factor in a case is an objective determination of the decision-maker. The task is to weigh the facts in a fair and impartial manner, considering both positive and negative elements. H&C decision-makers must determine which facts are most important, which evidence is the most persuasive, which argument is the most compelling or convincing, and why.
