@Imablue,
we are always denied or refused visa from this part of the world (Nigeria).
well it is said we ll reunite soon though I applied in November 2015 and now 9 months waiting for ppr.
I meant sponsor visit in Nigeria.

My wife was also refused a study permit and TRV.

I'm the sponsor and I fly to Indonesia with all my vacation time.

Will go back soon if she's not here.

There is nothing you can do to speed up your application unless Trudeau says something which he won't. All I ask from you is patience.

Thanks K. Kaur

Regarding the background checks, my wife will be 20 this year, and she has no criminal background. She has never travel outside the country for more than 6months. But my question is this, all we sent was a police certificate saying she has not committed any crimes, so are they really gonna check with the local authorities or are they gonna look at her age and put a mark pass?

I, like so many others on this forum, completely understand how you feel. It is much too long to be apart from someone you love. We have a son who is almost a year old and it's heartbreaking for him to have spent most of his first year away from his daddy. Even though we have received the passport request it won't be returned in time for my husband to be here for his first birthday :(

The unknown is the worst part for me. Not being able to make plans for your future. Not knowing if he will be here in a month, a year or even longer. Hearing heartbreaking stories of people being denied and spending years appealing and wondering if that will happen to you. I could handle the waiting better if there was a date I knew he would be here by.

Like ImABule said 7 months is pretty good for Dar. People who applied last year were waiting over a year. They seem to be speeding up so hopefully yours will be even faster. Just pray that you do not have an interview as that is what really slows the process down.
Oh wow sorry to hear about your situation. Im gonna pray for you my friend that God makes it easy for you

Criminality and security checks are done by CSIS. Everybody has one.

Most VO'S start it after eligibility but it's possible it starts concurrently.

Thank you very much. I didn't share my story because I think ours is harder than others going through this process, just to show you that I understand your situation. I wish something could be done for Outland applicants to be with their spouses in Canada while they wait, some sort of spousal visitor visa. Previously the theory was outland applications are processed quicker than inland but inland seems to be speeding up to the point in some cases it's faster than a lot of the VOs. This doesn't make sense to me. The people who are separated should be the priority. Inland applicants are together in Canada and in most cases able to work after a few months. I appreciate that they would like their PR status quickly too but it's not the same as being apart.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but someone through Dar who applied in December got his notes in July and it showed neither eligibility nor background checks had been started. However the good news is he got his passport request just 2 weeks later so once they started working on his file it was very quick.

I feel your pain. You see in my case i want to take some time off from work, so that i can go see my wife, but what if when i come back i get that visa request email? I would feel so bad spending all of this money not knowing that if i had waited just another month, i would have saved all of this money. It sucks i cant go back till the visa is approved. If only we had an idea so that we can prepare.

Makes perfect sense.. The system is completely biased towards western first world applicants from developed countries.
