Okay, here's the somewhat confusing situation:

My husband is a Canadian citizen.

I am an American citizen.

He sponsored me and our daughter (family class / spouse) last year, and we landed as PRs in December.

We have just adopted a baby from Ethiopia. (We won't be able to bring him home from Ethiopia until June, due to red tape.)

Because I, the mother, am a U.S. citizen -- and we had to go one citizenship route or the other, as far as the baby's paperwork goes, and the adoption agency is American -- the baby will be landing in New York in June as a U.S. citizen. He gets his U.S. citizenship automatically, upon landing.

So then we will all return, one big happy family, to Nova Scotia.

So: What route do we need to follow to apply to get New Baby his PR status in Canada??? Obviously, my husband (the dad, who is a Canadian citizen) sponsors him, but via which application?

If anyone can point me in the direction of the best place to start, I'd be so super-extra-duper grateful!!!! :-*

Re: Okay, here's a challenge: Anyone got a clue...??

Since my son will already be a U.S. citizen by the time we cross the border back into Canada, I suspect that he would not be sponsored via the usual "international adoption" routes, but via whatever process would be used for any child who is a U.S. citizen but whose parents already have legal status in Canada (one a PR, one a citizen). So . . . what might that be? He's an infant, so he will necessarily be living with us -- so outland? family class? is there a "minor dependent" or "child" category that would apply?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
